The first picture is me with my 9 point, 19 inch spread, 201 pound buck. I chased him last year and when he finally came in during the day he only had on antler. I had much better luck this year. He ran past my ground blind chasing a doe 4 times before he walked in broad side 25 yards away. It was a perfect shot and I watched him drop only 40 yards away! This was my first deer with a bow and I have the best story to go with it.

This is my daughter Daisy and I out hunting the Wisconsin Youth Hunt. She is 11 this year and was able to hunt with me through the DNR's Mentor Program. We didn't see any but the memories we shared are priceless.

This is Daisy and her Dad walking in Douglas county during the Youth Hunt. It is so great that she gets to spend time with us in the woods hunting. Like I said it is priceless.

I shot this moose up north of Finland. A park ranger (Jim Bishop) from Tettegouche State Park taught me how to call bulls in, but he forgot to tell me I should of been in deer stand when doing it. The bull charged me 50 ft away and I peed my pants. Good thing I shot him in the heart. Within minutes I was charged by another and peed my pants again :) I went to go get help and a pack of wolves ran in between my husband and I. Yep I peed my pants again. Took 11 hours to get it out. I gutted it, skinned it, and quartered it while my husband packed it out. Then he made me carry the head and hide out. Got back to camper and we put a deer camera outside the camper on the moose meat because the wolves were leaving wolf scat outside our camper every night. I thought, I'm gonna get some good pics if they come back. About 4 am I woke my husband up and told him something was eating my moose meat outside the camper because I thought I felt the camper move and heard noises. He just said, "go back to bed you just having post traumatic stress from the moose charging you!" Got up the next morning and the camera had a moose picture on it right next to the camper. Pretty exciting week, but I will never, ever call a moose again with out being 20 ft off the ground.

We set out in the truck with 7 bullets, and 2 antsy kids the first grouse we saw, Mark shot and missed, "ah dad", second one gone. then the next five where right on, we had our limit and were all High fiving and given dad lots of praise... Then for deer hunting opening morning Logan (7) went with to the deer stand and shuffle, shuffle a button buck came out to see what the comotion was so dad shot and got him. Logan called to let me know, guess what we got a 2 pointer. then Nikki (11) went for the afternoon hunt and signaled dad to look the other way she could see a deer, he nonchalantly turned around thinking no way, but there stood a nine pointer 1 shot and he got it. so Nikki called me and excietedly told me about the hunt..... daddy's good luck charms are the new nicknames...

11/10/2010 I got to my stand around 2:00pm started to rattle and grunt, heard a noise and finally I seen horns. Now I'm excited not sure how may points but it has a rack, up to this point I had only does hanging around. I got the 243 ready waiting and hoping that he get outs of the brush still no clue of the size and in the scope I had a clear neck shot. One shot and that is all it took. Sitting on my high ridge looking down all I could see was his hind quarters it was now 2:39. I called my husband (Trent) left a message I got a spiker. He called back and told me to stay in my stand it was 3:30 and once it gets darker we would ranger around to get the deer because he just got off work and wanted to spend time at his stand. I understood and just before we hung up I said maybe it is a 8 pointer. This obviously bothered him and about 20 minutes later he calls and said come pick me up we will go get the deer and how do you get a 8 pointer out of a spiker! I said I'm blonde! I get my ranger and seen my brother (Mark) ask him to get the other ranger because I might have a big one. Of course he chuckled. Picked up Trent and said Mark is coming and he goes I can handle this! Well when we got to the deer Trent could not believe his eyes and neither could I my heart was racing so fast 16 pointer wow that is crazy. Mark pulled in seeing me jumping like a wild woman, he gets out and I said and "Who's the hunter now"! I will have bragging rights for a long time, but as my 6 year old nephew said "That is nice but there are bigger ones"!.
